Welcome to
The Grange School Rowing Club

The Grange School Rowing Club Logo

As a school, we started rowing back in 1985 with just a handful of pupils and two boats based at Northwich Rowing Club.  Today, we have a thriving and active club of over 150 pupils, 14 coaches and, 70 boats with a boathouse located on a five kilometre stretch of the River Weaver in Acton Bridge.

The wide range of enrichment activities available at The Grange School is part of what makes the school such a special place. The GSRC offers one such activity. However, we are so much more than rowing. Our rowers not only become physically and mentally fit but they develop a real understanding of themselves and achieve so much more than they ever thought possible, both in terms of rowing success and personal discovery.  It’s a wonderful thing to see a shy 13 year old join the club in year 9 and leave as a confident, self-assured 18 year old.

We welcome all children attending the Grange to join the rowing club.  Pupils are introduced to the sport at junior school where, in year 6, they have the opportunity to attend a lunchtime erg club.  Upon becoming a senior school pupil, whether moving from the Grange Junior School or joining the Grange Community for the first time, erg sessions are offered in year 7 and 8 in games. Progression to water-based sessions occurs in the summer term of year 8 so pupils are ready for full training in year 9.

We have developed a full racing schedule across the Head and Regatta season and ensure each rower gains as much racing experience as possible as they progress through the year groups.

We at the GSRC are dedicated to nurturing an environment where every rower, parent, coach and volunteer feels valued and is part of what the club is now and will continue to be.

I am proud that our club is the epitome of The Grange School values and is a place where every rower can truly live their education.
